Dog Bowl Painting Fun.....Draiser

Photo of dog:

Had a fantastic morning today at All Fired Up, who were hosts for our Fun...Draising Dog bowl painting event. It was a great turn out and thank you to everyone for coming. CARE successfully raised over $750.00, which will go directly towards our Spay and Neuter campaign. Several folks also donated their finished mas...terpieces so we will look forward to handing those out in the community for the animals. A huge thank you to Liz @ All Fired up and to Tara for planning the event. Stay tuned as we are looking at doing a Christmas themed event in November, so you can get a kick start on creating some early Christmas presents. Check out the artistic talent we have knocking around on this island, some wonderful artwork.

Another Lucky 7 to New York

Our transfer to North Shore Animal League in NY on Saturday was far more emotional than ever before. That's because 3 of our K team pups took their final step to finding their forever homes, something we have waited and wished for for many months. Kermit, Kelsey and Kai made the trip along with 4 of our L team pups, ...Linus, Lucy, Libby and Lulu, making this another "Lucky 7" winning transfer for CARE. We wish to extend a huge thank you to Kenneth, Island Veterinary Services, Cayman Airways all of the L and K team foster parents and the volunteers who showed up on Saturday in force to bid our teams farewell. There was not a dry eye in the airport as we all watched each and everyone disappear to a new start.

Expat Pets - It's a Zoo Out There!

(CNS): Following recent reports from the Humane Society that it is inundated with unwanted pets as a result of so many expatriate workers leaving the Cayman Islands, one group of local volunteers says that people who are leaving can take their pets with them and don’t need to leave them behind. As the animal shelter is now at capacity, the Humane Society has said it is finding it very difficult to take on any more animals. Lesley Agostinelli, a volunteer with Cayman Animal Rescue Enthusiasts, says it is not that difficult for people to take their animals with them when they leave. “We have the advantage here in Cayman of good veterinary support, so it is possible to arrange pet transport and to have animals micro-chipped so they can travel,” she said.
